Restorative VS Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is a term you have likely heard but have you ever heard the term restorative dentistry. Cosmetic dentistry is a process that perfects your teeth and smile. Restorative dentistry is a process that requires more restorative work like crowns, fillings or implants.

Restorative dentistry refers to all the procedures and management this sort of dentistry is needed to keep the mouth healthy and functioning. Dental implants, fillings, crowns and even dentures are part of the restorative dentistry. This is not a specialized type of dentistry but is just corrective dentistry and preventative dentistry. These dental procedures are generally not needed but are done to work with issues the patient pay have with their smile.

Restorative dentistry and cosmetic dentistry can be used together to fix both cosmetic issues and decay or other issues in the same place. The functionality of the teeth is restored with the smile in mind.
